The Second Nature Outdoor Sailing Club is aimed at further developing young sailors by providing more opportunities to sail. This means providing youth with a summer long sailing program as well as opportunities to compete in the sport. We hope this club will not only develop future sailors but will also cultivate a deeper sailing culture in Fredericton.
As a member of this club sailors must be at least 6 years of age. As sailors complete various CANsail levels they will gain additional club privileges, such as weekend access to club boats. All club members will be required to do some light maintenance duties (this helps keep the cost down) this may include boat cleaning, setting up boats for the season as well as winterizing equipment.
As part of the clubs commitment to skill development sailors will be divided into groups by skill level, not only by age.
Youth Memberships available:
Wet Feet Member - Ages 6 - 10 - These sailors are new to the sport, and as the name suggests they are just getting their feet wet with just one morning of sailing each week. This hands on program will gently introduce young sailors to the sport in one of our Optimist Sailing dingys.

420 member - Ages 8 - 15 - These sailors are working on their CANsail certification from Sailing Canada and are sailing two afternoons per week. In this program there will be a combination of theory and practical lessons, ongoing evaluations and opportunities to mentor younger sailors. While mentoring younger sailors is not mandatory it will be highly encouraged as we try to develop new and up and coming coaches for the program.

The 420 Sailing Club will begin each scheduled day at 13:00 and end at 16:30 depending on the wind and river conditions. During this time members will be focused on sailing and sailing related activities including minor boat maintenance and care. This is not a child care program youth participating will be required to follow a code of conduct and may lose club privileges without refund if they choose not follow it.
